Arghhh...how much trouble did you have switching over?

I knew I shouldn' t have messed with a good thing, but I did. I thought I would switch to carbons; I wanted the flatter trajectory...honestly not worried about being super fast.

I have a 28.5" draw and was shooting 2413' s @ 70lbs. Went with GT 5575' s @ 70 lbs. and it is giving me absolute fits. Tinkered with it a bit trying to get good flight and nothing seems to work. I just took all the fletches off of one and shot it from 15 yards to see what the flight looked like...it made knuckleball moves that would have kept either Neikro in the majors another ten years.

I' m wondering if any of the rest of you had much trouble switching. Also, given my set-up information above, would you choose 100 gr. or 125 gr.?

Likely underspined with GT' s, their chart is a little on the soft side. Try them with 100 grain heads that should increase the spine a little bit.

It looks like you are on the fringe edge of the spine chart for the 5575s. With a 28.5" draw I will assume you are shooting an arrow that is between 27.5 and 28" long. Based on that with a 100gr point, the charts indicate the upper range of the 5575 and the lower range of the 7595.

Try backing your draw weight down to like 70# and see if that helps your arrow flight. If it does, you are probably underspined and need to think about a stiffer shaft.

My arrow measures 29.5" from tip of insert to tip of nock.

Hey Spring, I agree with everyone. I shoot a 27" GT XT 5575 @ 65lbs. This put me right on the money and they tuned very easy. With your setup, I would have to say they are a little underspined. Like said above, try a lighter point, or, you could always back the weight down. That should help out tremendously.

One thing you might check is the spring tension on your rest. With the lighter arrows, you don' t want too much spring tension.

I can get my 5575 to tune very well at 70 lbs 29.5" draw out of my solo Pat with 75 grn and 100 grn heads. At 125 and 70lbs 7585' s may work better for you.

I also shoot 7595 out of the same setup (little rest adjustment) just as well with 100 grn tips.

Watch what that bare shaft is doing and adjust accordingly and you should get close

At that arrow length I' d get into the low 60' s on draw weight with a 100 grain head. Any lower tip weight and your FOC will probably get too low for good broadhead flight. The better option might be the 7595s if you want to stay near 70 lbs on draw weight. This way, you can use the 125 gr tips and get a higher FOC, which is good for broadhead flight.
