RE: Bohning Lynx or Alpine Quiver, Need some Input
I was deciding between these two last year at this time. I chose the Lynx then. It is a decent quiver, but mostly made of a plastic material. It does seem to hold the arrows well, and is not noisy. I think there are better quivers out there, but it gets the job done. I usually take the quiver off when I am in my stand, but the bow shoots well and is not really any noisier when shooting with the quiver on.
Oddly enough, I am looking to get an Alpine Soft Lock for a shorter bow that I have this year. I think it is possible to slide the quiver up higher to protect the nock ends of the arrows better with the Alpine. I think you can angle it also which helps keep the nocks out of harm' s way. The only thing I didn' t like about the Alpine was that the shop demo that I tried was pretty stiff when I tried to remove the acutal quiver from the mounting part. It seemed like it would be difficult to remove the quiver (which I prefer to do) easily and quietly when in the tree stand. I still might get one anyway, to see if I like it better than the Bohning.
I also looked at the Kwickee, but it is very short, and the arrows have a long, unsupported length to vibrate at the nock/fletching end. I don' t know for sure that it would really be a problem though. They are a popular quiver, so there must be a reason.
