After how many shots do I change out my string and cables

I just started bowhunting last year and have put about 1000 shots across my strings/cables. Is it time to change them out or will I get some more time out of them?

How does everyone gauge when it is time to change out the strings and cables?

I make my own and replace them every year. I feel better to be safe then sorry. Now with that said I think most(?) change the string every year to two years and the cables every other year. Alot depends on how rough you are on your equipment, keeping it waxed, etc.

Best way to tell, have it checked at a Pro shop. It depends on a variety of things. Do you see any wear like string fraying. I know guys that shoot high speed bows alot, and change theirs every yr from wear, and I know others that also shoot alot with strings, and cables 4-5yrs old. Better yet I know guys with bow that have never changed strings at all. I shot alot, and my last bow went 5yrs before needing changing. Like said waxing your string, and cables helps wear, and life alot.
