Default vane length question

I just ordered some Gold Tip arrows and wasn' t paying attention to one detail. These arrows have 3 inch vanes. I' ve always shot 4 inch vanes. What sort of effect will this shorter vane have on my arrow flight? If it matters I' m shooting 28 inch arrows at about 273 fps.
Thanks,
Will

Default RE: vane length question

Less stability, and possibly bad arrow flight with broadheads. If they' re for 3D and/or target it won' t make much difference, EXCEPT----being as they are vanes smaller ones weigh less on the tail end of the arrow so you' ll have a slightly higher FOC, and possibly will group better with field or target points.
