Default Trouble with Rayzors & Bohning helix jig

Been doing some research on here, and due to glowing reviews of this jig, and the ability to use Rayzor feathers in it, I went out and got me one. The first problem I found is there are 4 little plastic "tits" (or protrusions if you prefer a different term) in the slot, which I assume are to help hold the Blazer vane in placing while gluing. It is really difficult to get the feather in the slot due to the tits. Can you just shave the tits off with a pocket knife or razor blade?

The next thing is that the base on the feathers is considerably thicker than that on the blazers. Does this present a problem conforming to the bottom part of the slot which forms the helical?

The third thing is that there is no secure fastening method to secure the slot part to the rest of the jig. Any suggestions here?
As you can see, I have not yet attempted to use it, am contemplating returning it to Bass Pro. The jig did not come packaged complete...it was missing the "release tape",...and I if I decide to keep it and use it, was just thinking of putting some masking tape in its place. Also, the first thing thats gotta go is the silly deer head.

Any help from you guys that have successfully used this jig with the Rayzors will be much appreciated. Thanks.
