How high to put a treestand?

Lightbulb How high to put a treestand?

I live in eastern Kentucky where we have mostly hard woods an think brush some open spots. i have a summit viper climbing tree stand, how high should I go in ti to bow hunt? I'm comfortable at any height, i just need to know what is a prime height to be at to make the best of my Hunt's? thank you Drew

Depends alot on the terrain, type of tree, cover, LOTS of variables. GO as high as you are comfortable for starters, if you get high and are not real comfortable, you will not be able to make a shot when it counts. 16-20' is plenty in most situations though, just kind of as a guideline. I've gone as high as 30' before when it is necessary in late season, but that is not very often the case.

I like the 20 feet mark.Just remember the higher you go the more of a shot angle you will have.So that will change how you shoot at a deer.

Most buy a pull rope, 20' and stop when it pulls.

i live in kentucky also and i only go up about 20 feet or less and i shot deer every year

I live in some pretty thick country and have shot deer from hights ranging from ground to 16 ft. seem to kill most of my deer at about 12-14 late season and early
