I don't know what is Mathews recommended number but when tuning if you start at 13/16",that will almost always get you close.Most all bows are between 3/4" and 7/8" so this will just put you in the middle.

Yes, 13/16 is the place to start. If you set it up with a centershot gauge, you'll be off quite a bit.
