Default Form/Anchor Help..??

I feel like a complete newbie here although I have been shooting for 12-13yrs!

I switched arrows and fletchings that are now low profile. This is where the problem starts.

I have always used the fletching in the corner of my mouth as an anchor point but now I cannot do it.I cant find a consistent anchor point and it is frustrating!!

I also have always shot a longer draw length but this is just where I am comfortable...? I like my arm locked out and my peep has ALWAYS set about 3" above my nock point..haha if some of you guys would see my old form you would probably cry! I bring my head to the peep instead of bringing the peep to me. I didnt care how I looked I just shot my best at a longer draw, when I pulled back it felt like my shoulder blades were contacted together and it made for a rock solid wall for me at full draw and I was able to settle in and just shoot with no problems!!

Well in the mix of me trying to find a consistent anchor like this, I just couldnt get it, so I shortened my draw up by 1/4-1/2" on the cam and raised the peep about 2"-3" more to get it somewhat better! The problem now lies that i cannot lock my arm out and it is just plain uncomfortable to shoot! My draw is still probably 1/2"-3/4" long if you would look at me, but to me it feels too short! My shoulders dont feel right, I am having a hard time holding still, I spend 10 seconds at full draw trying to find a consistent anchor, I am frustrated!! I understand I have not shot routinely in about a month-2months and my muscles will need to get acclamated back to shooting but WOW.... I have never in 13yrs of shooting felt so helpless!

The funny thing about it is even with all the problems I am having I am still stacking arrows together it just takes so much work to get settled enough to shoot!!

Any suggestions?? I really dont want to go back to my old setup/form but if I cant get comfortable somehow in the next couple weeks I am going to have to!!

Sounds to me like you picked the wrong time of the year to start making wholesale changes.

When you lock your arm out,is it relaxed,if so,that really isn't that big of an issue.

If you don't want to post pics publicly, send them to me via pm and I will try to help you find a nice compromise.

1 reason for trying to achieve what most coaches feel is good form is because it is EASY to repeat.I didn't shoot an arrow for 2 months and went out 1 day, shot 3 arrows touching at 30 yards.Couple more similar groups and put the bow away.I then went to a 3-d shoot the next day and took 1 warm up shot and shot a 293 on a 30 target course.

AND,I was a complete form mess when I started several years ago.Still have a horrible double set that is getting better but is still there.I have been too long, too short, too much poundage.I have done it all.BUT,it wasn't untill I talked to a coach and figured out what I was SUPPOSED to be trying to do,did things start getting easier.

Thanks guys I am slowly getting it! It just sucks that I am changing how I have been shooting forever to the way I am now!

Tfox~~ You aint kiddin about wrong time to be changing stuff around, I have been trying to get everything done for a month or better now!! I so far absolutely HATE, HATE, HATE the QAD rest that I bought!! I am not far from ripping it off and putting the old style prong rest back on!!

I am now clearing with the new fletches and it is shooting fine, but every now and then I will get a "flyer" and I am saying what in the world?? It turns out the rest is not dropping to completely vertical, so much for "LOCK-DOWN"....POS!!!! I am tinkering and it getting better, but wow you would think for the price it wouldnt be so touchy!!

Throw a kisser on, this will help you get your anchor back. I know most dont like to use them but you really wont lose that much speed. I tried earlier without a kisser on my new bow and It didnt feel right. I really like knowing that I can draw the bow back and and the kisser hits the corner of my mouth, I settle my pin and release.

I hate kissers because they are too big to be very consistant and they really aren't neccesary if you are anchoring properly but it might be something to look at.Maybe serving a small one on instead of the big plastic ones.
