Default TUNING ISSUES WITH ICEMAN

Hey guys...

I have an Iceman,50/60, 27.5" draw, Limb Driver rest
D- loop, no nock points, just plain D-loop
PSE Radial X Pro 300 shafts w/50 grain inserts, used 100-175 grain heads
Paper tuning with bare shafts so clearance issue can be counted out.

I keep getting a low right tear. I got it out somewhat but had to move the knock point way high of center of the rest holes. Also, centershot is past center to left of center.

I had another guy look at it also today and shot it... he thinks 'somethin funny'. The bow LOOKS 'outa wack' and when we try to bring it close to 'normal' it shoots like crap.
I tried 200, and 300 spine arrows, 75-175 grain points...
It just seems wierd...

I have never had so much problem tuning a bow (especially a Bowtech)

What do you think ?

I would look at a different spine. Somewhere around .360 maybe weaker. I shoot a .300 spine arrow with 300 grains on the front at 66# from an Allegiance. Those are also 30 inch shafts. You don't say how long your shafts are but if they are close to your DL then they are likely way too stiff.

EDIT: I also have a .400 spine, 29",arrow with bushings, 50 grain inserts and 100 grain points and shoot that out of 60# Allegiance.

Bruce

I cut shafts to 29" 100 grain inserts, with 175 grain heads. I also shot 200's...(the arrow) with differant point weights.... same results

Like I said I am shooting a 30 inch shaft,.300 spine arrow with 100 grain inserts and a 200 grain point at 66#'s. I couldn't shoot that arrow at 60#'s and have it tune well.

Is the 200 you refer to a .200 spine or a .400 spine?

I looked up your arrow, the PSE Radial X Pro 300, and it is a .360 spine. Have you tried it without the 50 grain inserts? If you want/have to leave the 50 grain inserts in try backing off of the DW a little and see if that helps. It seems like a spine problem going on the information given.

Also, instead of paper tuning with a bareshaft why not just fletch an arrow and then shoot the bareshaft and the fletched arrow and see how they impact in relation to each other. Try that at about 15-20 yds and see what happens.

I tried EVERYTHING today..... and had another person looking at it... after five hours, and every shaft / point weight combo, and some obvious issues with the bow (it was obvious) ..... I fixed it !!! I got an Alpha Max 32 !

I had the Alpha Max shooting perfect in 30 minutes... it shoots so well I was shocked and I am a VERY happy Hoyt shooter now

Nice bow. I really like the looks of the alpha max and from everything I've read it is quite the shooter.

It really seems like it will be a great bow. I have to put it threough the paces but considering the set up ease its looking good. I roughed it out, got a bullet hole, shot a bare shaft then rough sighted it... shot out to 50 yards... I can say I am very pleased and much happier with it over the Iceman, and have to say it is flat out a better bow and this comes from a big fan of Bowtech's
