Default Thumb releases, 3 or 4 finger?

Im wanting to try a thumb release for next yearand i was just wondering if a 3 or 4 finger would be better? Or does it evenmatter? Is it just personal preference? Also i was looking at some of the carter releases and i am wondering if they would be ok to hunt with. They look like there more for 3d so im not sure. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I have both 3 and 4 finger thumb releases and they are just personal preference.

Over the years I have been told that you can't use a hand held release for hunting and all I can say is all the animals I have shot using one did not like them either

I have used both and currently have a 3 finger, but I'd say it's just personal preference.

I have a Carter Insatiable2 thumb release that is 4 finger, but... i shoot with my pinky behind the release! So when in doubt, get a 4 finger b/c u can always put ur finger behind the release. I took it hunting once this year and will be using it next year.

Personal preference I believe. I shoot a 3-finger ST-3. Use it for hunting and target. Love it, and won't likely go back to a wrist caliper release.

Been using the Carter Big Kid for years and only retired it to back-up for my Carter Target 4 last year because the Target 4 locks into the loop easier.

I have a TruFire 3D Hunter and love it...I use it for hunting and 3D. I like not having to have a release strapped on my wrist the whole time...it let's me do more stuff with my hands too.
