Default Cable wear?

I noticed some cable wear on my new bow. I have shot roughly 500 shots or so and noticed this little spot. Is this something I should address now? Thanks in advance!

Looks as if your cables aren't quite seating in the center of your draw stop modules. That wear is most likely from the cable rubbing the edge of the "channel" on the draw stop module as it rotates down and into the module. My 101st does this (more of a cam lean issue than anything), and I'm getting actual slicing of my cables, and yours looks more like general wear. However, with only 500 shots in, you may want to have it looked at. Keep an eye on it, and as long as it doesn't show signs of cutting into the cable, I wouldn't be too bent out of shape, but it couldn't hurt to have it looked at. Do you happen to have access to a draw board or even simpler yet, get someone to watch the cams and cables when you draw back. You should see the contact being made right before you reach peak/rollover.

Thanks for the reply MGH_PA. What I can do tomorrow is set up my video camera and watch the cam/cable interact with eachother. Great idea...Thanks again!

That sort of serving wear is *very* typical of single cam bows- especially those with factory (i.e not the best) string & cable.

Invest in a quality set of strings and cables with better/tighter serving (Winners Choice, Vaportrail, Stone Mountain, etc etc)

Actually, looking back at your pictures, you can clearly see in the top picture where the cable was catching on the edge of the module.

Like JeffB said that's pretty normal.

Quality strings will in fact help!

I agree. Without seeing a sideways shot of the cam it looks like the wear is right at the point of the sharp apex right before the roll over into the valley. And quite common with single cam, high letoff bows. For now I'd just wax that area and keep an eye on it to see if it gets worse.

Could be that there is a slight snag or rough spot on the module, too. Check it out with a cotton ball and if there is a rough spot then you could use some 400 grain sandpaper to smooth out the edge of the groove.. Also, the more cam lean involved the worse it can get.

Thanks guys for all your advice. That first picture I took, I can see how the wax is rubbing off on that one side. Funny how I missed that with my eye but is plain as day in a zoomed in photo. What actually drew me to wearing was a new noise that creeped up on me while shooting. After waxing the heck out of that particular area the noise went away and so did the rapid wear...So if this normal I won't worry to much about it and get some decent cables/string ASAP. Thanks again!

This seems to be common on single cam bows
I had the same problem with my Bear Instinct, the module wasn't aligned 'perfectly', I took out the module and added a simple thin paper shim with some superglue and also smoothed off the inside edge of the modulewhere the module and cam meet. I also noticed the same thing on another bow where the module and cam were in factaligned, so there is something to be said about a better quality string, but since there is alot of tension at this specific spot(same place on my bow) IMHO good quality strings will also show premature wear due to this stress point. I have fixed this however by tightly wrapping some waxed peep thread in that area, wear has decreased by about 80-90%.
