Default newbie, hoping for help

ok I am right handed and bought a right hand bow. I found out I am totaly left eye dominant. this might sound weird but I cant close my left eye only. i was told I need a left hand bow, but im afraid I wont have enough strenth in my left arm to pull the bow back. does anyone know a way that I can still use a rt hand bow???

longhaul, many rifle shooters use eye patches, patch your left eye that way you can leave it open but it wont focus on anything leaving your right eye focused on aiming .

hope it helps, oldskhool

You should be in a left hand bow and before long you'll adjust perfectly. Any shooting coach worth his salt would put you in a left handed bow.

However, the newbie above gives you some excellent advice, eye patches and blocks/shades hanging off the brim of your hat have helped many left eye dominant right handed shooters.

You really should shoot a left handed Bow. Down the road you will be glad you made the switch!

I am left eye dominant from a chainsaw accident. And shoot right handed. I can't imagine anything else. I do shoot a pistol left handed. And right.

But if you have just started out, give the lefty a try. But things can change over your life if you are a young guy.

IMHO i use both arms the same to pull back my bow. im right handed a right eyed but i still have both eyes open when i shot. I just push forward with my left arm and pull back with my right. But you should probably make the swich to a left handed bow.

It won't take long for the left hand draw muscles to tone and you'll be shooting lefty like you were born to it. That's definitely the way to go. The problem with the patch solution is that you lose depth perception and ability to estimate distances. While that's fine on a firing line, it's no good in the woods.

just get an eye patch or even make one and wear it over your left eye or learn to shoot with both eyes open both ways i suggested work like a charm
