Default shooting in wind

When I shoot on a windy day my arrows tend to cork screw. Is this the case with most of you? I try to avoid windy days, but sometimes you just have to get out there and shoot.

My arrows fly true even in the wind.

Possibly a bit more drift but no corkscrewing.

It is pretty much always windy here and I don' t have any corkscrew problems. Like the others said I get some drift but definately no flight problems.

Obviously a lot depends on the strength of the wind and the angle one is shooting in relation to the wind. Shooting into a high cross wind I have seen arrows that cold barely get straightened out at twenty yards. This from a well tuned bow.

Strong wind is another reason I like heavy arrows. In 25-30 mph crosswinds, I' ve had light carbons get blown completely off my rest at full draw. That' s guaranteed bad arrow flight! It takes a pretty healthy gust of wind to nock a 600 gn arrow off a rest. And it' s been my experience that heavier arrows (500 gns and up) are flat out more stable in the wind. Period.

Other than that, don' t forget that the wind is not only blowing your arrows around but it' s also buffeting you and your bow. It really screws up your follow thru on the shot.

I try not to do much fine tuning on a windy day that' s for sure.

I also fletch with all one color so your eye doesn' t pick up that cock fletch and give you the illusion of a corkscrew.

I agree. Wind is hard to shoot in. I don' t have arrow flight problems. A little drift but no corkscrewing.
