Default Broadhead Tuning

Time for science/math class:
I need some help from the community on broadhead tuning.
Prior to starting the broadhead tuning process, I was checking the FOC on my arrows.
The spec that I can find states that FOC for broadheads should be 12-15% and for field points 8-11%. The measured FOC for my arrows was 13.2% (with 125 grain broadheads) and 9.6% (with 100 grain field points). If I was to use 100 grain broadheads then the FOC would be the same as the field points since the overall weight hasn't changed.
So with this in mind, when broadhead tuning should I tune 125 grain broadheads to 100 grain field points, and should I be hunting with 125 grain broadheads after tuning is completed.
My arrow weight with 125 grain broadheads is 450 grains.
Thanks for any help.

Honestly I've never heard of this round about principal regarding FOC (12-15% with BH and 8-11% with FP).

You should really tune your broadheads with your broadheads! I cannot imagine how/why a 100gr field point would fly or shoot to impact more like a 125gr broadhead than a head of equal weight?

It has been my experience that just so long as the weight of your head does not make your arrow spine too weak, you can't really have too much FOC. There are a lot of opinions out there.... but based on what you have written here.... I'd definately be shooting 125s if a 100 only gives you 9.6% FOC.

Never heard this either. I like to go by the rule of >15% for finger or traditional shooting. And nothing less than 9% for compound release shooting. But never heard separate specs.

I do know pure field target shooters like 8%. But they don't plan on using thier bows for hunting.

Broadhead tuning should be done with like weights of field point vs. broadhead. If you're wanting to debate 125 gr. vs. 100 gr. that's another subject... personally I'd go 125 but I like relatively heavy arrows.
