Default Newbie question

Hey guys,

My name is Andrew and this is my first time posting. Ive been in a constant debate with myself for the last few weeks now and I figured I would get some opinions. I have a mathews Outback and its getting old now. Its been in the closet for the last 3 years due to college but Ive been shooting it now and getting ready for hunting this year know that im out of school. Since my bow has been in the closet for so long does it need to be re-tuned again. Ive been looking at the new 09 Admiral and the DXTand ive been thinking of making the outback my back up bow and upgrading, the thing is that there reallyarntany bowtech dealers close to me and I dont want to have the same experience I had when I bought my mathews when I decided to buy a new bow again.Should I go demo the bows im interested in or should I just retune my bow and stick with it.

I dont really know much about bows I just know how to shoot one pretty much, I really needto find a shop that will take there time with me and get me set up right. Is there anyone around tenessee that knows ofsome good bowtecharchery shops that willget me set upsoI dont get all the way home and have togo back because something isnt set up right?I dont minddriving a ways if they are worth it.

Thanks for anyinformation guys.

I would set your bow back up, after 3 years, and not shooting, take to the shop and have them give it the once over, look at the strings and cables, etc. then get the feel for shooting it again.

after that then go demo some bows, you will have a point of reference after shooting yours.

I agree with hmthtrfan.

Your Outback is still a good bow, but, hey, if you want to spend $1000 on a new one...have fun!!! And demo all of them before you make your decision! You may find one you didn't think you would like to be your new favorite bow...that's what happened to me! Thought I would love a Hoyt, wanted to love a Hoyt, intended to buy a Hoyt...Shootin' a Diamond Marquis and I love it!!! It's my opinion that once you get into the top level bows, it doesn't matter what name is on the side, they are all great bows. What matters is how it feels and sets upto YOU!!!

Well, that's my $0.02.

Andrew

Bullytech, where are you located in TN. I know of a really good bowshop here in KY that sells Diamond, Hoyt, MAthews, and Bowtech and he does good work. yyou could demomost ofthe high end bows there. He already has the 09 bowtech line too. im going to shoot them tomorrow today!

drockw- Im around the nashville area in hendersonville Tn. It only takes me about 15 minutes to get to kentucky. What is the name of the shop and where abouts is it located.

Thanks guys for the advice. I think im going to stick with my bow atleast till the end of this hunting season.I really dont want to dish out 1000 dollars right now for a new set up so I would rathersave some money andhave my bow tuned and a new string. Im sure I need a new string since it still has the same string that it came with.

One more question. When tuning a bow is that something someone does for you or do you have to tune it yourself for the way that you shoot?

Again guys thanks for the advice.

somethin to think about...cause im in the same boat as you right now kind of.....i had an old Jennings bow in the garage that i set up this year to hunt with...it tuned out perfect and fixed heads fly like darts but i was also wanting a newer bow so i bought a used 08 Bowtech Guardian off of Archerytalk.com.....i had already shot one at my dealer so i knew thats the bow i wanted.....but to get back to my point i would let a good pro shop look over your outback...there aint nothin wrong with those bows at all...have them check it all over and square everything up good.....if you do put a string and cables on it make sure its a good one like a Winners Choice or something to that effect...some strings stretch some and will throw your tune off if you jsut slap the string on and tune it before shooting it some.....jsut something to think about

ThanksCHAMP I think thats what im going to do isjust get my own bow back in tune before I throw down on a new bow.I have heard alot of good thingsabout the Bucknasty strings and I think thats where im going to be getting mine from. The only real problemim having is finding a good archery shop tohelp me get my bow in tune.I think im just going to have to balls up andlearn how to tune everything myself.

I'm with the other guys-have your outback checked out and YES have new string installed unless you just have 1K laying around burning a hole in your pocket. I shoot a switchback xt and have no intention of upgrading for some time.
