Default airborne 82 poundage

after waiting nearly 5 months for my new bowtech 82 airborne (every thing takes time in south africa) it finally arrived. problem is i have buggered my shoulder up in the last month and now find i cant draw the bow without a lot of discomfort. i have backed out the limb bolts 5 turns (gives about 60/61 pounds) but looking at the bolts and pockets and amount of thread showing on the bolts it looks like i can back it off another 4 turns at least? can anybody comment on that? i know it`s not recommended to back down a bow to far but will it cause actual damage to the bow itself?

As you back the bow down it will become noiser. 10 pounds is really the max you should back off a bow, even though the limb bolts are very long on the Airborne. The performance of the bow will also drop. Why not order a pair of 60 # limbs, this would be a much better thing to do.

Or for that price, just sell the one you have for a slight loss and get a bow of lower draw weight with a less radical draw cycle. I can draw a lot of weight comfortably on the right bow (90#) but I found the Airborne to be brutal at 70#.

You may be able to draw more poundage on another bow but the 82nd will be about equal to alot of bows near 90lbs so what good would that do.

I agree with both. While I love my 82nd....the draw cycle is very harsh. Most people I know shoot 70lb bows (mathews, hoyt, etc) and they struggle to draw my bow.

I've said this 100 times Draw cycle is the last thing I consider when I buy a bow. Familiarity usually feels smoother because you are used to it.

60# is 60#!! Sure you may get it a little quicker and pull it a little longer, but it is still only 60#. If you have trouble you are over bowed and should go down in draw weight regardless of your Bow choice.

My BowTech 82nd at 61# and 28" draw is producing over 72# of KE. You can't do that by barely grazing 60# one time in the draw cycle

i think u guys are missing the point here! i dont have a problem with the draw weight(my PSE brute is set at just over 90 pounds) but since i hurt my shoulder falling off my bike i have to lower the draw weight so i can continue shooting. the wife takes a dim view of me shooting her bow ha ha!

Turn the draw weight down to where you want it while watching the limb bolt threads and build your strength back while enjoying your bow.
