Default Fall away rest question

I just got a new bow and it has a fall away rest on it. I have never had one of these. My questions are, What are the real advantages of one?? And shouldmy arrow be leaving any marks on it?? I noticethere are marks on the rest part of it, but the arrow doesn't touch this, could it be my fletching hitting it??? If it is how do I stop that??? Thanks for the help.

What rest is it ? What arrows and fletchings ? Most fall away rests require you to shoot cock vane straight up.

V8 rangers rock. I used to have one. An 86 too, 4wd. Always sorry I sold it.....

not sure of the make of the rest but I'm shooting carbons. I didn't think about turning the vain up. The V seams a little deep, will that matter? I love my 5.0HO Ranger. Mustang powered est 300hp

cock vane needs to be up... I would think that the names somewhere on the rest also. Its going to be some marks in the V part just from drawing etc. Advantages are supposed to be no fletching contact to slow or effect flight.

Well you where right. I turned the odd vain up and no more marks. My grouping seamed to be better also. Thanks everyone for your advice.

Hmm...that rest looks like it could almost be a GWS Strike Force fall away. Glad you got it shooting better though.
