Actually, it is exactly what it sounds like. It is a cam that is leaning to the right/left of a true verticle line. So, when you release the string, the string doesn't travel a verticle path.....It is being pitched off to the right/left causing significant tuning issues. I just dealt with this issue about a month ago......It was causing severe fishtailing of my arrow, and when I shot through paper I was getting a HORRIBLE right tear, about 2 + inches. I had to twist up my yoke to pull that cam straight, and thus having level nock travel again.

The main cause is that the cable guard pulls the cables off to one side causing the cam to lean that way. When you draw the bow, the cables get more tension and cause more lean. If you have a "Y" yoke on the leaning limb you can load one side of the yoke to correct the lean of the cam but if you don't (as in binary cams or the cam end of a single or cam 1/2 bow) then you've got to work around it by putting the rest out of centershot.

ok this makes sense, but what do you guys mean by "twisting the yoke?" also is cam lean something that's measured, and how much lean is too much? i noticed my bottom cam has some lean in it, but it is leaning the opposite way that the cables are.

A single cam doesn't have a yoke at the cam end that you can twist, maybe that's where your confusion is coming from? Any cam lean is deviation from ideal so the worse it is the worse off you are. How much is too much depends on what you can tune out. My BowTech has .75" of deflection from static to full draw which is WAY too much. If changing the limbs doesn't fix it my next solution is to put it in the trash.
