Default Youth draw weight

How do I determine my son's draw weight? Take him to the weight room and see if he can pick up a 20 lb dumbell? There are no youth bows available locally to have him try to draw, and definately no lefties. Ideas?

i say start out low with the bow draw weight than if it looks to easy keep going up till you find the sweet spot

Most youth bows have a pretty good range of draw weights that can be acheived w/ out changing any gear. You could call a bow manufacturer and tell them your kid's specs (age, height, weight) and that might give them a good idea about what bow you should buy.

When you get the bow, take it a pro-shop and have it adjusted to a comfortable draw weight for him.

Buy something like a diamond edge, parker buckshot etc.
so very adjustable, if it doesnt work, just buy new limbs in the growing up programs

Tough deal to try and buy a first bow on the internet or catalogwithout testing how much he can draw. How old is he? How strong relative to others his age? maybe some of us can help with an approximate number based on our experiences
