Default Broadhead alignment

I knew someone who would heat up the end of their arrow with a broadhead screwed in, and turn the insert so that the blades would be perfectly aligned with the fletchings in respect to position on the arrow. This was for a three blade BH and helical fletch.

Does this have any significance or is it a waste of time?

It helps with straight fletch arrows...however....You probably can't even do it if you wanted. If you are shooting carbons I know you can't.

That old way of aligning heads was done when we used hot melt ferrule glue on the inserts. Now days it is epoxied in and the heat will only serve to damage the arrow. Won't loosen up.

Good Question though.

Holler if you need more help. I am just down the road in Barbour Co.

Spin-testing the arrows is probably a better way to determine whether or not the arrow is going to fly well. I get similar results from arrows when fletches are close to being aligned and ones that aren't. My best flying BH's are my Slick Tricks, which are 4-blades, so I'd have a really hard time aligning my 3 vanes with a 4-blade BH!!!

Aligning a 3 blade broadhead to the vanes of an arrow is an old wives tale and has been debated, debunked, and myth busted.

I use Magnus Stingers and all I do is align the main blade vertical with the bow string. How do I do this? I use the spare leftover rubber "O" ring from a pack of Thunderheads, put it on the ferrule of the Stinger. It allows the broadhead to get tightned and allows a little play either way (snug), so I can align the main blade vertical.
