Help me out guys........Been out of the hardcore loop for awhile.
Looking for broadheads for my 10 year old son'sbow....He'll be shooting 41 lbs and a roughly 325 grain arrow.
A couple years ago when I really kept up on things....the best answer was definetley a "cut on impact head". What are the best penetrating broadheads these days? Maybe 5 shot will give his 2 cents? You have to remember we are talking about light poundage.
85 grain slick trick or 100 grain standard.
Magnus stingers
An inexpensive but great head for kids is the Eastman 90 grain first cut.
Aftershock Archerymaniacs
Sonic braodheads

I would say go with eithe a small 3 blade style like the sonics, rocky turbo's nap nitrons etc no more than 1 1/16" cut, or a good high quality cut on contact two blade with no more than 1 1/8" cut. One of my favorites would be the magnus stingers or muzzy phantoms (minus the bleeder blades) Also keep in mind arrow weight is important, so while you may thing a lighter head is better don't overlook going a little heavier, say 125 grns to get more weight on the arrow as well as better FOC.

RE: 40 LB. SET-UP...Best broadhead penetration?
You should definitely think about a 125 gr tip for a light bow set-up. You want to increase penetration and worry less about 3-4 FPS. Slicktricks are extremely sharp as well as Wac'em Triton and G5 fixed 3 blade.

x2... same as 5 shot said as well.
My girlfriend is shooting 42#s and I just bumped her up to FMJ 500s, went with a 125gr head... the loss of speed is negligable, but the umph that arrow hits with is noticeably different and the bow is much more quiet. She'll be shooting some type of COC head.. haven't decided what just yet... probably Simmons Sharks since I have a few of them around.

100grain 2 bladed Magnus Stinger. The lifetime warranty sweetens the deal.
Want a heavier head? Look into Zwickey's. Tougher than nails, fly well, priced right, penetrate like crazy. They are a bear to sharpen, however. The Eskilite weighs 135grains.

When I was younger. I shot a PSE Bandit stage 2 at 40 pounds peaked out. I shot xx75 1816 arrows with 75grain wasp broadheads. I killed 4 deer with that combo. Completely through the deer every time.
