Default Tying on servings

I searched for past threads about tying on servings and couldnt find any. Could someone give me advise/tips/info on how to tie center servings? Also, do you tie them the same way for peeps? Do you have to have a serving jig to do them? (or does it just help?) Do you use some type of glue or do knots hold on their own?
I am wanting to get more into doing these things for myself (mostly because of this site!) and would like more info on how to do this.
Thanks everyone.

woody, check out this site, it should help you out a lot.

To answer some of your questions, I always use a jig when doing center serving. It is very important to keep an even pressure on the thread and a jig will do this. It will make the wrapping so much easier for you. They are not expensive at all, I' m sure you could get a good one for about $10. When I am doing a serving, I always place my bow on the press. don' t need to tighten it, but it will keep it secure. You will also need something to seperate your string from your cables. As far as knots, yes they will hold and are very simple to master. I believe that the site above will give you the knots.

The Apple information is very good. The pictures are what helped me figure out how to finish the serving. Once you do it once, you only get better and it isn' t as hard as it looks. I even use this method to tie in my peep sights now, only I do that by hand.
