RE: G5 Sight Should I Buy?
The 4 pin is a good choice if it has the floating pin. That gives you 3 fixed pins for example 20, 30 and 40 yds. And the floating pin you can set for various distances. The floating pinoperates the same on them all, but depending on the model, you mark it different. On the newer XR sight, there is a white wrap around the dial you turn to adjust the floating pin. So you could sight in at 45yds and make a mark on it, 50yds and make another mark and so on. Then when you need to make a longer shot, you turn the dial to that mark and your good to go. With the other models, you get a sticker you can use, but instead, I know with my floating pin as high as it will go, Im shooting 46yds, and every 360 degrees I turn it it makes a soft click so I turn it out a certain number of clicks to get the yardage I want. But to be honest, I have never done any more that use this pin for fun, I guess its nice to have just incase, but if Im shooting that far, Im in the wrong tree. You get detailed directions with the sight, its not as complicated as I made it sound. By the way, you will need the rheostat light. These sights are not very bright in lower light conditions.
