Default 3rd Axis- TFox

TFox,

I was reading your posts about the importance of having the 3rd Axis set. Can you post the exact steps on how you would go about setting this correctly?

Thanks!

Default RE: 3rd Axis- TFox

I set the second axis level with the sight bar,the level in that thread slides down on most sight bars and will stay put. While the bow is held in a vice,I adjust the 2nd to read level with the bar.

Next,I will move to the yard (level ground)and slide the bar all the way in and shoot an arrow at around40 yardsand then I will slide the bar all the way out.If my arrows impact different left and right,I will shim the sight mounting block at whatever angle it takes to get the arrow hitting the same left and right with the bar all the way in and all the way out.(4rth axis check link in thread). LOTS OF GOOD INFO IN THAT LINK

Then I will put the level back on the sight bar and hold the bow downhill at full draw and see where the level is when holding the sight BAR level,LEVEL.If it is off,I adjust ONLY the 3rd axis untill it is reading level with the sight bar level when aiming uphill and downhill.

This allows for the 3rd to be adjusted with the factors that get added when drawing the bow and shooting it.

How do you shim the sight mounting block? What do you use to shim it with?

I have used aluminum shims and old plastic credit cards.

That 4rth axis tool in the thread would be a little easier to adjust.[8D]
