Contact question on Shaky Hunter

I had a TT pronghorn SL and replaced it with a Shaky Hunter micro adjust. Didnt mess with the nock point, just moved the rest (down quite a bit) to get the broadheads and field points hitting in the same spot. As time went on I noticed my groups opening up right to left.

Put lipstick on the blazers and found I was getting a little contact on the side of the V of the Shaky Hunter. Removed the moleskin and put on some white athletic tape so the lipstick shows up better to double verify the vane contact. Since the new tape is much thinner (due to the moleskin getting "puffy" over time) I am not getting contact anymore and the groups are back where they should be.

Should I move the nock point up a bit, raise the rest, and go with the moleskin on the V or leave the rest and nock point alone andtry teflon tape on the V to quiet the bow on the draw?

I would personally go with the teflon tape. As long as your arrow slides quietly along, and you are grouping with FP's and BH's I don't see the problem.

Your issue may be similar to the one that many people have with the Limb Driver rest. If the pivot point of the launcher is not even with the top of the arrow shelf then when in the down position, the launcher sits up at an angle as opposed to laying completely flat on the arrow shelf. This often will cause clearance issues.

The basis for this issue seems to be the location of the berger button and how close it is to the arrow shelf. There is a school of thought that the nock point of the arrow should have the center of the shaft aligned directly through the center of the berger button. This can lead to difficulty in getting clearance with many drop aways and in some cases, clearance issues with the arrow shelf itself.

My suggestion is to set up the rest so the launcher lays flat on the arrow shelf. This normally entails moving the rest up between 1/8" and 1/4". With a level nock point, you will probably find that the bottom of the arrow shaft is in the top 1/3 of the berger button hole (this is where you want to be). Now adjust your rest height to get the correct positioning of your arrow (1/8" nock high is pretty normal).

I have found that nearly most drop away contact issues that can't be attributed to rest timing are caused by this issue. You should also notice that with the launcher laying flat, your rest timing should be far less critical than it had been in the past.

Thanks for the info. The rest is not flat on the shelf and the prongs do stick up a bit.

Right now the broadheads and field points hit in the same spot but I amvery close to having vane-rest contact issues.

If I raise the rest so it lies flat on the shelfI need to raise the nock pointa bit to make sure I can get the broadheads and field points hitting together right?
