Hi speed demons, I know there's a few of you here.
It's been a goal of mine to crack the 280fps barrier with my bow. I'm close, my setup chono's in at 272fps. I will be getting a new string/cable set soon. The catch here is I don't really want to change arrows. They're new and weigh in at 5.3gpp w/ 75gr tip. Setup details: Bowtech Equalizer 50lbs, 26" draw. D-loop and kisser button, hush kit on the cable, and the factory installed speednocks. I use a hindsight soon to be replaced with an Anchor sight. Arrows are 25"GT Ultralight Pros, 4" feathers fletched right helical, and 75grain tip. Ripcord rest. Any suggestions? I would be willing to loose the kisser.

Losing the kisser is going to get you VERY close. Probably....oh.......277ish... Can you put 1/2 turn on the limbs? That would put you around 51 or 2 pounds, and..how much arrow length do you have to play with? Maybe you could cut 1/4 or 1/2" off the nock end? String silencers? Possibly remove them. Another good one is to reserve the string, only cut back on how much you put on. If the string is served for 7" now, cut it back to 5 or 6. That will gain quite a bit. You're so very close, just tweeking a couple things should put you over the top.

Thanks Mobow. Bow's limbs are bottomed out. My arrow is about 1.5" past the rest. Honestly, I don't know what the safe minimum distance an arrow needs to be past the rest. The middle serving is only 4" long, but quite a bit on each end and on the cables. I do have the area where the string strikes the STS served, about 1.5" worth. I left the hush kit on the cable.

The minimum safe arrow length is, in my opinion, 1/2" longer than where the arrow contacts the arrow restwhen you're at full draw and pulling as hard as you can into the wall.
Good Luck in your Goal. Some good advice on how to squeeze a few more fps out of your setup. Get the most you can and be content. Speed isn't everything!
Any chance you'd consider swapping out limbs to 60#?
And I realize you don't want to change arrows.... how about a different fletch? Gateway's Rayzr feathers are much smaller, which would cut back on friction through the air. Perhaps re-do a couple of your Ultralights and see if it helps?
How frictionless do you suppose your cable guide/slide is? perhaps a little bit of teflon spray or graphite will help there, too.
Doegirl, my advice is don't loose efficiency for a few fps. Your pin gap won't change, your POI won't change and there is nothing to gain for 8 fps that any human on the planet can shoot the difference. You might gain a ft lb of KE or so which may be what your looking for, don't know but loosing efficiency for 8 fps isn't work it.
BUT if you must,
loose the kisser
loose the string hush kit and add a MeanV suppressor
like Ausie said, instead of a 20 strand string, have an 18 strand string made. I used to do this on every factory Hoyt I shot. I made my own.
Twist your cables to get a few more pounds. (Careful though, this will increase your DL slightly which will gain speed).
What kind of release are you using? I think I remember a picture of you shooting recently and I thought I noticed that the barrel of your release looked long? If you can find a shorter release, you might be able to lengthen your draw a bit to gain what you need..
Then put it back the way it is now for when you're not shooting through the chronograph...
Seriously though, the Carter Quickie is a great release that you can really shorten up. Mine has served me well for about 3 years now I think

Doing this, you should see 8 fps.
This is the best advice I"™ve seen. And I agree with it totally.
