I am wondering what you guys prefer or any rule of thumb locations for fletching position. I wascalculating my FOC #'s the other day and come out to be around 9%. I think this is kind of low and what I am contemplating is instead of having to change my broadhead weight (100 Grains) would moving the fletching closer to the middle of the arrow change FOC enough to see a better precentage. I was thinking that it might be just enough to get into the mid teens but just curious if anyone has played with this or not. Current arrows are easton fmj 340 at 29" 100 grain heads. Any suggestions on what an optimum FOC ranges would be helpful also.

I don't know about that.... I like mine fletched as far back as possible. More time for the drop away to get clear, quicker stabilization and better arrow stability in flight. Just my opinion, though.
Moving your fletching farther ahead wouldnt do you enough good till you got past the middle of your arrow so skip that idea. Better to add weight to the front end of your arrow. If you hadnt already had you HIT inserts already glued in you could have just gotten the brass inserts to bring up your foc.
Most people don't have adequate FOC for optimum performance for their setup. You have to either add weight to the front or lighten up the back. I just got some of the new CXAramid Kevlar FOC shafts I think they are going to make some nice arrows.

Are those the ones I saw at my shop that went for $200 a dozen? They did look like awesome shafts. The ones I saw were the "Mathews Edition". Cute little Mathews logo emblazoned on it and all. Funny thing is,that was the same day the owner tried to convice me that my FOC percentage of 14.75% was too much andthat any FOC percentage over 12% reduced penetration.
Oh I would love to meet that shop owner. I guess he would say my FOC of 22% would cause my arrows to bounce off the target since it reduces penetration[8D].
But in all seriousness I would go up in point weight and maybe use brass inserts. IMHO the higher the FOC the better off you are for hunting arrows.

If you're ever down my way, I'd be glad to introduce you. I've learned to ignore some of what he says, especially whenI know it to be that far off the mark.
The FMJ 340's that Parkerbuckhunter is shooting... what's the spine on those? Anyone know? Just wondering if they'll handle a heaver BH.
