2213, I have a question for you. You are asking some good questions here and seem to have a pretty good handle on things. But--- why do you want to compare the "light" carbon arrow and speed with the "heavy" aluminum aluminum arrow? It's pretty much accepted that carbon arrows, because of their smaller diameter, give better penetration. So, to get the best of both worlds why not consider a heavier, slower carbon arrow.
I've been shooting the light ones for years and am seriously considering going with a heavier carbon arrow myself. Not that I've had any problems with penetration. Just maybe beginning to think that I'll get a bit better penetration, more forgiveness, and a quieter bow. And basically, for normal distances within 30 yards, speed is really a non-issue, as is trajectory.

Big hogs are much tougher than black bears. Black bears give up the ghost fairly easy and most good deer hunting setups will do fine.
I think broadhead choice is much more critical than arrow weight. Hunt those big boars with a good cut on impact.

When looking at the KE of a particular setup, the change will be negligable when shooting different weight arrows. Where the heavier arrow has an advantage is in momentum, the biggest component of penetration. But again, I don't feel the difference is that great at normal hunting distances.

If you look at the formula for KE(Ke=mv2).It's obvious that speed has twice the effect on kinetic energy than weight.However you also have to consider monentum which is how fast an object loses it's energy when it meets resistance.All things being equal I would like to shoot a 600 grain arrow 300 fps if I could.Since that's not going to happen I like to shoot an arrow aound 6.5-7.0 grains per pound.This to me is a good comprimize between speed and weight.Now if I'm hunting hogs in heavy cover i might go alittle heavier with a good cut on contact head.For antelpoe on the prairie I'd shoot 5 grains for maximum trajectory.For a good all around set up the above weight works for me.
40-50 KE is a lot for a stick bow, and they have cleanly wacked everything.
If you are currently limited to these numbers, and this bow, you can only increase energy with a heavier arrow. There isn't much point in asking which is better the fast or the slow for KE. I think you have plenty of bow.
As you point out you have to be able to hit it. If you are really limited to say 20-30, no once a year pronghorn hunts or whatever, then it is easy to have your cake and eat it too. Shots out to 20 yards are point blank even with heavy arrows. If you can just learn to hedge it a little for the longer shots out to thirty you should be on target. Then you can have your heavy high KE arrow, and your hits. There is no net hunting advantage to a fast arrow other than range related. If your hunting situation, or personal limits take range out of the equasion, then the heavier arrow is always better.
Beyond weight, I look for durability in the details, for instance I like a swaged or solid arrow construction. I am also real picky about broadheads from my trad days. If you can get a tough sharp arrow you can hit with, what's not to like?
Even beyond 30 yards, you can hit pretty much everything accuracy wise if you can get the yardage (I don't like long shots on game because of other factors, but that's just me). Ever shoot a known yardage round of foam, it is like shooting fish in a barrel, which actualy sounds harder. The light arrows are only of big interest to me when I can't get the yardage, and the target is out there.
Like mentioned above split the difference shoot around 7 gr./lb and call it a good compromise....If you like the beman, switch to the ICS camos and you'll add enough weight to get you there. MAke sure they are the ICS Camo hunter Plus, no the old ones.
