Default What's the best release

What's the best release? I prefer the glove - like releases but am willing to switch. I want to know a release that fires with very very little pressure! Thanks!

MI74,
It's a matter of personal opinion, head to a pro-shop and try a few out. I know a LOT of guys like a "Scott L'il Goose," but I couldn't get one around my wrist. The couple I tried had VERY light triggers, almost too light. I find that I like a medium weighted trigger personally because I tend to "firewall draw (hold really tight against the backwall)." Anything that is too soft get's bumped on occasion if I'm using it. A lot of target shooters love the "back tension" releases, I've never tried one, I tend to like a wrist wrap w/ a buckle (no velcro for me, makes too much noise when hunting).

You need to look for a release that has little to no movement to fire it but does require some pressure to get it to go off.Hair triggers cause way more problems than they solve. You need to be able to settle into the shot and be comfortable laying your finger on the trigger.

I really like the Short & Sweet II by Tru Ball for hunting. It is made for a loop.Just make sure whatever you get has a buckle and not velcro like the one in the picture.

I really like my Scott Sabertooth to hunt with, but this year I think I'm going to change and go with an ST-3

The wrist straps tend to make me shoot right or left of the mark because that's the motion you use when releasing the trigger. I have tried several over the years and each is different. Obviously you can minimize this alotby a smoothmotionon the trigger or back tension and with asolid anchor.

An alternative is the motion of a thumb release with a solid anchor. The motion is up and down but I feel it is better contained in your hand. If the release ispunched on a thumb release there isn't as much up and down problems like punching the release trigger on a strapwith side ways swing.
Tru-fire 3d hunter or the truball makes some great releases that I feel will improve the hunters skill.
