Default Drawlength

I am currently set with a 30" drawlength, but think that is too long. I can still pull past my anchor about 1/2-1", so could possibly drop down to a 29" draw. My question is, will I still loose energy/speed by dropping even though the true distance I am pulling will not change? Should I lower my length so that I can feel the "wall"? Thanks.

You won't loose much but you will gain alot of accuracy. You'll hold more steady, be able to use
backtension properly, and probably have overall better form. Most guys shooting a 1 cam shoot off
of the wall as far as I know. It helps with repeatability.

I'm not sure if someone could put a number on the amount of draw force you will be giving up, that
might be hard to say. There is a rule of thumb for inch of draw length but I don't know what that
is; if that's what you are asking. Hope this makes sense.

Chief, yes it does and thanks. You made mention of single cams, which I shoot a dual. I am guessing that doesnt matter, does it?

I metioned that because it is said to be more critical to shoot a 1 cammer from the wall everytime. Shooting it from varying points in the valley is detrimental to accuracy and will give you "flyers". This may not be as critical with a 2 cam and can actually be tuned out to some extent.

I prefer to pull into the wall the same everytime reguardless of the cam system I'm shooting for form reasons as well as accuracy, not that the two don't go hand in hand<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>. Some bows this is just easier with IMO, such as those with a solid wall or a draw stop.

Hope this explains some!
