Default hunting set up for kids

My son will be 9 next year and will start hunting. What is a good arrow and broadhead combo for someone shooting 40lbs that would yeild good penetration? Would aluminum arrows be the way to go?

Beman ICS juniors will work for up to 40lbs and I would stick with a lighter cut on contact type broadhead.

40 lbs is a good weight for a kid. Make sure he can handle it good in the field. I go with a good carbon arrow and a cut on impact broadhead. I hunted once with a lady with a will tuned 35 LB short drawed compound bow with a carbon arrow and a cut on impact broadhead. She got a pass through on a nice 8 point buck quartering away from her and the arrow skidded up the lane the buck was standing on after it passed through. She thought she had missed it at first because she seen the arrow skidding up the lane, but than the buck drop dead in sight of her at about 40 yards.

Bingo! These are really good arrows too. And at $18/half dozen you can't go wrong. Couple that w/ an 85 grain Magnus Stinger....Dead deer fo sho...

I would consider the Muzzy Phantom w/o the bleeders. Magnus has changed the design of the 2 bladed Stingers. Instead of the blade being held down by 2 screws, it will be fastened by only one. I found this out when I recently received two new packs of Stingers. I don't know how the blade is supposed to remain in alignment with the ferrule with just one screw and I'm not about to find out.[&:]

CX maximas with weight forward. I belive they are the 150s any good cut on contact will do. Montec's (but make sure you sharpen em) my g/f shoots 45 lbs with Nap thunderheads, though not a cut on contact, wickedly sharp. just make sure any arrow you get is cutto proper spine and the bow is tuned well and he'll bezingin arrows right through deer!
