I bought my Wife a starter bow a couple of years ago (no brands mentioned) but then last year I bought her an Equalizer and she absolutely fell in Love with it. She improved her already good shooting practically overnight. Just try to pry it out of her hands!!

What kind of competition? Regardless I second the recommendation of the Equalizer.

i believe mathews short draw comp/hunting bow is the prestige. looks a lot like a slightly shrunken apex 7. very nice bow, along w/ the equalizer.
