I was wondering what a good FOC is. And also i was wanting to get a heavier arrow for hunting. I'm curently shooting easton lightspeeds 400 (keaping those for target shooting) but i wanted something that will be heavier staying in easton arrows. Also what is a good arrow weight for whitetails? I was thinking of going towards 400 450 grains. Draw length is 28'' 60# DW Diamond Triumph but will be buying a Marquis soon.
The Easton Axis are hard to beat. And for a little heavier shaft, the A/C Super Slims are great. Both offer superior penetration. A 60 lb. bow with a 28" arrow and 100 grain tips would call for a 400 series shaft.

FOC: It depends who you ask. I have seen charts saying your FOC should be 8-12%, others say 10-15%. Then on forums like this you see guys saying they are looking for 21-25%. My rig is similar to yours pulling 63# 28" DL. I shoot carbon express 6075's that are 28.5 inches longand with a 100 BH theFOChappens to be13.21%.They chronoe'd 253 fps.
What is a good FOC? I would guess anything between 11 and 18% for a hunting rig.IMO: 400-450 seems heavy. I would go with a lighter arrow giving you a much flater trajectory.Play with a KE calculator and you'll get more punch by going faster. I have been told if you take draw weight X 6.2 this is the best weight to achieve maximum KE. Yours being 60X6.2= 372gr arrow. I would go this way and let the FOC fall where it falls.
For me I prefer real heavy FOC. I shoot Beaman ICS Hunters 28 inches long 340 spine 58# DW DL 29. With 220 Grain Muzzy Phantom broad head giving me 21 % FOC. total arrow weight is 543 grains. Amazing penetration! For hunting, I will never get off the heavy FOC. You have to see it to believe it.
I could use a refresher in FOC myself especially in light of the extreme FOC's some guys are using. Lot's of opinions out there. Which is right? I don't know.

With the speeds of bows these days a heavy hunting setup is the way to go and a hunting arrow with a foc over 10% or more is the way to go,I don't know how much is too much,but mine perform great in the 13-15 range.I will never go back to a light setup unless I am planning on shots of 50-70 yards which will never hapen for me.My 490 grn arrows do pretty well out to 45yds and would group better with the right person shooting them,you have to know ur limits and mine is less than 45, 35 is about as far as I'm really really comfortable with,there now that was'nt so bad takes a real man to admit that,lol.
My specs are close to yours , I pull around 65 pounds , I shoot a 525 grain arrow , axis fmj with 125 grain tips , feathers , and my foc ends up around 13 , . This year as compared to last [I was shooting much lighter arrows] , my speed is about 30 fps slower , my bow is much quieter , and accuracy has improved , I shoot fixed heads , . I shot 4 animals tis year including an elk that weighed around 900 pounds , all passthrus , my days with lite fast arrows are over .

I really like the A/C Super Slims by Easton. Very high quality shafts. They are about one gpi heavier than the Axis ST's, and have the same very small diameters for superior penetration. Would probably lean towards the Axis for deer and the A/C Super Slims for bigger animals like bear and moose. Both are great hunting shafts.

FOC for broadhead tipped arrows should be at least 12% to 15% more won't hurt anything except your trajectory/speed. I whitetail hunt with 340 to 400 grain arrows and that is more than adequate
