Default late 90's Bear bow?

my buddy picked up a bow the other day.

its called a

Bear Whitetail Nsync
its around 40 inches ATA
with recurve style limbs
70# limbs
30" draw
is whats on the limb sticker

the bow is a single cam. his draw is around 28-28.5
hes new to compounds and seen this bow at a pawn shop and bought it for $50. i havent seen the bow. but, he said it seems like the cam doesnt have a modual for draw adjustment that it looks like its all one piece and just the 3 knobs built into the cam for length adjustment. hes hopeing he can get this bow to fit him but i think hes gonna have to find a cam that fits his draw length.

i cant find any info on 10 year old bear compounds anyone know where to look.

id like to see if i can find out some info for himon that bow.

Default RE: late 90's Bear bow?

I am not familiar with that exact model. I did have a '95 Jennings Speedstar XLR and a Bear Superstrike Xl from '96. Both had similar cams to what you are describing. You could get about 1" of draw length adjustment out of the pegs. Putting the string on the peg closest to the top of the cam gave you the longest draw, and putting the string on the peg closest to the bottom of the cam got you the shortest. Unfortunately for your friend, the draw length adjustment on the bow he has should be 29.5-30.5. A Bear/Jennings dealer may have an older cam laying around to swap, but that is a long shot. He might be able to get a cam on ebay, but most of the cams sold there are for Mathews bows. Last resort, he may be able to sell the bow on ebay for about what he paid or maybe make a little on it, and then try to buy a bow that is the correct draw length.

Default RE: late 90's Bear bow?

Thanks Joe....

it kindof stinks that he bought something that might not work for him....he told me that if he cant get it to work that it will be the only and last compound that he buys,[&o]i wish i wouldhve talked to me before he bought it...but i understand why hewent with it,theres one place local that trys selling used bows that are from the early late 80's early 90's for 150-200$'s that have performance not much better than his recurve...and he seen this one for 50$

im thinking we will find a cam somewhere that will fit him tho. i just wish it wasnt such a hard thing to find, and if we cant find one, thats kindof crappy because the bow is only about 10 years old and in great shape from what he said.

it kindof makes me not want to buy a new bow if i cant get parts for it in 10 years after i bought the thing for $800 new...if thats the way things end up. no what i mean?
