I'd reccommend getting w/ a local pro-shop and seeing what they have in their used bow section. What is your DL, are you a Lefty or a Righty, and are you wanting a bare bow, or a bow set-up to shoot right now???? I think you need to figure out what you really "need" vs. what you "want." You can get an old Bear Whitetail II that is a 70# draw bow, that won't shoot as fast or have as much energy as an average NEW bow set @ 55#. If you have somewhat of and idea of what you want, try the classified here, ebay, a local pro-shop, or the classifieds over on AT.com.

Don't know why you think you NEED a bow drawing 70# or more unless you're planning a trip to Africa, but for something in your price range you're not going to get much of a bow. If new it's going to be pretty much entry level or just above that. As OHbowhntr said, you might consider looking at some decent used bows.

My friends got a mission X-3 which cost him about 350.00 for a bare bow. I am not sure if you will find any 2007's around but its worth looking. I know this will upset some people but he says its the "poor man drenalin". Check out the 07 bear line since they just revamped their line for 08.

Maybe he needs the xtra weight for distance shooting. Also a person does not need to spend up to 1000.00,on a bow to kill a deer.the only reason i got a ar34-bought it at a auction-..
The matthews, ross, mission, etc.,are good bows! But i believe its more or a status symbol. My martin prowler(1990) will shoot as good as any matthews!
Just check ebay or even pawn shops-youll find one,and saved hundreds of bucks, that you can use to chase them bucks.Good luck man
