RE: JeffB et al...
RB,
I apologize, I did not see this post before.
Personally I feel that style of release in your link is the absolute WORST for pulling power. For one it requires a large amount of direct pressure in your hand at all times which puts quite a bit of strain on your hand (they give me cramps) In addition you are not able to relax your hand at full draw (and once you put your trigger finger up on the trigger, you now have one less finger helping you maintain pressure).
There are a few folks I’ve seen over the years that like them, but they are few and far between. Most guys end up letting them go downrange with the arrow! It’s really funny! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
IMO, the Winn Glove is the ultimate in pulling power. In combination with the Trufire Bearpaw head (a direct copy of the Winn head) I also get a much crisper trigger mechanism than the Winn, though it still falls short of a really good release like a Scott or Carter, or similar.
To me the Winn/TF combo is a necessary evil. I would much prefer to continue to use a Scott or Carter caliper style: the lower trigger pull, and less trigger travel add are very nice. However I find that I cannot anchor as solidly with them (I’m less relaxed) and I tend to pull out alignment more often with them. When I first started using a release aid I started with the Winn, and used them for a few years, so I suspect that my form “grooved” around its use. I keep trying every year, but more often than not, by the time hunting season rolls around I’m back to the Winn/TF combo.
