Default Axles......please help

Well..I dry fired my bow..Beginner Mistake....The Cable broke. I had a guy make me new strings and cables.Well he thinks I might have bent my axles. I'm shooting OK groups from 15-50yds.

If it has a bent axle...how much will it cost to get it fixed?????

Axles are easy to change out and easy to see if they are bent. I use a 3/16" pin punch. I press the bow, and push them out. I then put them in a drill press, and spin them to see if they are bent.

It should cost more than 30-40 dollars to change out.

They're a few bucks tobuy some new ones... Probably wouldn't be a bad idea just to change them out anyway.

I suggest changing them when a bow has been dry fired because they are relatively inexpensive and without the PROPER tools, very hard to check to see if they are actually straight.

I can check them because I have the proper tools, due to the factI am a tool maker by trade.

A SMALL bend in an axle can cause problems that you may not even pick up on.The axle can actually spin, especially when bent because the cam will catch the high spot and roll the axle a little. With the axle being bent, you will have a different rollover with each shot and from time to time, you will get on the bend and have a high or low arrow.

I prefer to eliminate the doubt by replacing them.

TFox, whats a good way to check except throwing it in a straight drill press? I have some granite machinist tables that are straight within a .001". Is rolling best?
