Default How is my form? Pic Included

Just wondering what you guys think about my form. Is there anything that i can do to make it better? After looking at the pic myself I think it looks like the draw length is too long but it feels very comfortable to shoot.

You are correct in your assumption about the draw.Looks to be about an inch too long to me.

Of course, when the draw gets shortened to where it should be,imo, the anchor will need to be raised to get the anchors back to the corner of the mouth and end of your nose. Then the peep will need to be readjusted.

Your release is also too long, you should be able to wrap your finger across the trigger when actually shooting and be able to apply pressue by squeezing.

The wrist strap also appears to be snug but it may not be.That can cause torque and yield bad results on the shots.

Here is a clip of me.I am using a wrist release on the second shot.

TFOX, I gotta say your draw length looks too long as well, maybe a half inch, that is until you straighten your arm to compensate for it. When you draw and anchor in, you tilt your head back and then relax into it as you straigthen your arm straight out. Watch yourself do that. Not an issue in your shooting but an observation. With your arm straight, you look good as a T. I'm sure it works well for you.

As for temolo, maybe a half inch at most. Good square T, people anchor differently. I don't it to be an inch but shorter is better.

Rob

I was taught the straight arm method by a high level coach and that is the easiest form to repeat.

I am not compensating for it,that is the correct form for me.

The double set is somethingI devoloped years ago, maybe from being overbowedor it might have something to do with my shoulders being double jointed and I have to make sure I have them set.

Watch me draw,I lean back and then lean back forward. My head doesn't move near as much as it looks like but my back does.

I agree that this is not good and shouldn't be copied.

The reason I say an inch because I feel he is pulling his head back(maybe he isn't)in the pic.(draw length adjustments would make it easier to see)If he relaxed his head,I feel it would move forward slightly and then he would need atleast an inch shorter draw.BUT,a 1/2" and a shorter release might get him there.

Here is a clip with me shooting just about a 1/4" shorter loop.

Noticethe front shoulder working up.My release elbow is also working out way too much.AND,most importantly, the bow floated around way too much and wouldn't settle.

NOW,about a 1/4" too long. With a longer a-a bow and target shooting, this is the correct draw for me.

only thing i'm going to say is put a dang arrow on that bow next time - there's only 1 good thing that can happen w/ a drawn bow w/ no arrow - and about 100 bad ones.

I don't think that the release feels too long when i am using it, i just have my fingers pulled back away from the trigger. I wonder if my string just stretched on me. I was fitted when i bought it and they measured me out at 29 inches. Which was the same as my old bow. I will look into figuring out if it can be adjusted. Other then the draw length and my release is there anything else anyone can comment on?

Thanks

Looking at where the apex of the string is I'd say the bow isn't too awfully bad. About 1/2" long. What is too long is the loop and the release. You right hand is way behind your ear and as such has no solid anchor. It's just floating back there. Whether it feels comfortable is irrelivent. The reason it feels comfortable is because that's what you've become accustomed to. Still, it's not the best way to float your anchor.

From the pic the easiest way to see that you're stretched out too far is that your drawing elbow is way below the hand. From the albow to the hand is going uphill. When you get everything correct you should have a relatively straight line from the elbow, through the wrist, and this will be right in line with the arrow. This will naturally raise the drawing elbow.

Your head appears to be tilted back some. This can be draw length related, but I think once you shorten up that 1/2" it'll still be leaning some. This can be corrected by raising your peep a little which will lower your anchor. In doing so the string angle will make you keep your head straight to touch your nose to the string.

Hard to tell from this angle, but it appears that you have too much hand in the grip. YOu need to turn it out a little more and get the palm away from the grip

You look too long on draw , your release arm is pointing nowhere near parallel to were an arrow would be pointed , if you had an arrow on the bow .

Some times a draw looks long on a short bow because of the string angle. Your drawing back more to get the peep closer to your eye, if you don't you will lean your head into it and thats not good. I'm not going to try to straighten you out on your form because over the years I have seen a lot of diffident froms of a lot of great shooters and every one shoots a little diffident from. Things I can say is don,t hammer the trigger, don't lock your elbow, and stay with the shot all the way through till it hits the target and also put a arrow in your bow. Make the shot work for you not against you. To set your peep go out side and look at the target as you pull your bow back with out taking your eye off the target, your pin should be on the target if not move your peep up or down till it is. Never take your eye off what your shooting till the arrow hits it, if your seeing the arrow going to the target your are peeking and is not good, you should only see the arrow hitting the spot where your pin was and get to know what a good shot feels like , shoot at a bare target butt and work on your from not worry aiming and think about where the arrow hitting just what a good shot feels like, so you don't haft to think about it just do it and you can know when you made a bad shot by the feel of the shot.Thinking to much is some times is are worst enemy.

If you shoot with both eyes open, you will see the arrow in flight.

The short a-a is also another reason I THINK he is more than a 1/2" long.I could be wrong and start with a 1/2" and see what happens.I really think when all is said and done and anchor changes are made because of the draw changes, you wil need more than a 1/2" adjustment.Probably 3/4".Short a-a bows are tricky.

The release is too long imo,I really see no way you can get over the release with your knuckle from where you are now.At best,I see you putting the finger on top the trigger.

Get outside and get someone to take a picture of you actually shooting or better yet,a video.
