Default Arrow Weights with old bows

I have an old High Country Safari bow (ok I don't have it back yet, it was stolen and is sitting in the evidence locker at the sheriff's office.)

I'm going to do some upgrades when I get it back, planning on ones that I will be able to move to a new bow when I get one. So first plan is to get a whisker biscuit. I'll probably switch to some carbon arrows as well.

Do the same arrow weight per pound of dw apply to these older bows, or will I need to shoot a heavier arrow per pound of dw?

5gr per pound is the standard "minimum"

that said...you can find them(carbons) as light as that, clear upto 11 and 12 gpi(grains per inch)

the gpi #s do not include anything other than the bare shaft. add nock, point, and inserts to that...for your arrow weight.

Warranty goes down to 5 grains per pound TODAY. It wasn't all that long ago (6-7 years ago?) that the minimum was 6 grains per pound. There used to be some pretty hot discussions on this forum about manufacturers advertising IBO speeds with 5 gpp, while not warrantying their bows below 6 grains per pound.

Personally, I wouldn't go under 7 gpp with any bow. If it was an older bow and I need it to last a few more years, 7 1/2 - 8 gpp would be even better.
