Default Ashby has another great article on broadhead performance

More really good info, this time on the effectiveness of single-bevel broadheads.

From what I hear, there are a few manufacturers that pay very close attention to his studies. I'm not sure when any of this will become mainstream knowledge, but I'm hoping it's quick. The information he is providing is eye-opening and disspelling many myths of arrow lethality.

Interesting stuff!!!

Perhaps the few companies that "spiral" their blades (Rocky turbo, Rocket, Crimson Talon, etc.) also create a degree of mechanical advantage. Of course these heads are not near as heavy and have multiple blades thus theoretically having less energy and more drag.

Thanks for sharing....

I know of one that does a single bevel.

Matter of fact I have 2 dozen of them on order just waiting for them to arrive.

Outback Broadheads

Thanks for the info Ausie-guy. I got a bit excited about a screw-in with single bevel, until I saw that they were in Austrailia. I might be willing to wait on delivery if they had the higher weights I prefer. Grizzly must have single-bevel broadheads since that's what Ashby uses. I don't think they have the screw-in type, but you can get an adapter to attach them. The added benefit of the adapter is the abilityto really up the FOC if you want.

I'm pretty much set on what I'm going to shoot out of the 3 bows I'll hunt with this year. I might order some Outbacks to play around with and shoot them out of my longbow.
