Default New to site, new bow, have ?'s

Hello all.Long story short, I used to be big into bowhunting about 5 years ago (Hoyt defiant excel), gave it all upand sold everything butam now ate up with it again so i just bought a new bow and trying to get ready for the upcoming season. I have been lurking awhile trying to catch up on all the new stuff out now but now have some questions. FWIW, GREAT site!! tons of good info! The bow I just had to have because nothing else would kill deer...ehhh hmmm...is the PSE X-force. Iam shootingthe QAD restwith Carbon express arrows...350 Maximas with blazer fletchings 28" long i think, 100 grain tip so total arrow is 367 grains. My bow is at 70lbs so I am technically safer than IBO but do you think i went too light for a reliable/efficient hunting rig? I don't want this thing coming apart after 1000 shots. Should i go to a heavier broadhead to bring the weight up? Negative effects on my spine?I honestly really liked the way the bow shot compared with the drenalin, bowtech, parker, bearand others i shot...plus i'm a drag racer aka speed freak so the extra fps was a good selling feature for me. Right now the bow is shooting right at 319-320fps consistently (29" draw) but i think my string has stretched somebecause my cam timing marks have moved...so it may pick up some if I twist my strings to line things back up, no?Any of you guys shooting this bow? What are your arrow weights? Are you shooting a string supressor? Any other insight on this bow? Thanks again for a great site and any input.-Jarrod

Welcome to the site!

I ran your numbers through OT2 and it seems you have achieved a perfectly spined arrow. Your FOC (8.0%) could be a little higher (recommended 10-12%). Increasing the tip weight would achieve this but in turn would make your arrow weaker. A 125 grain tip would give you 10.48% FOC and still keep you in the "good" spine category; just a bit weaker. Ideally that would be great to do but you may just want to leave it be for now. I would.

I just ordered a string suppressor from MeanV and I'm waiting on it to arrive. They make a world of difference.

Good luck this season.

Thanks for the detailed response and for running the numbers...I may try a 125 tip just to see the difference.
I want to put a supressor on this thing too but don't know if i can get one in time for Oct. 6...MeanV is quite backed up right?

Actually, no. I ordered mine last Monday and got it today.Of course, I ordered black so maybe that doesn't take as long. He has to get the camoones dipped; may take longer but I'm not sure.Give him a call to make sure. Great guy and great product!

I'm going to the range tomorrow to test it out. Heres his site. http://www.meanvarchery.com/home.html

Sorry for the delay...thanks for the response. I talked to him on the phone..nice guy...he said even the 5.375" one he makes is too long for me, I measured it...need around 5", could get by with a 1/16" over. I am sure i could just run a die down and lengthen the threads but i will just wait since this saturday is our first day of bow season.

Well, its not an absolute must-have. Just think, these things have just started making their appearance into the archery world a few years back (or so). Cat whiskers are the next best thing IMO.

Where are you located?

Good luck!
