Default Arrow choice question.

Did I get screwed? Shooting a new Bowtech Tomkat and after playing around with some older arrows, decided to go get some set up from the dealer. My setup is 30"dl, 62#, anda WB.

Dealer was going to put me in some XT Axis I believe but had none in stock that would work.

He cut me some Easton Light Speed 400's with blazersto 29.25" which when you add a 100gr. field tip brought the total arrow weight to 361. These were his choice, not mine. I trusted him.

He said they were a light arrow but would work fine. I looked at Eastons website and it said the arrows were 7.4 gr./inch and designed primarily as a flat shooting 3d arrow.

Will these be ok for hunting whitetail at close range 10-25 yards?

Your arrow weight and speed you produce enough KE for hunting easy. My only concern is that those arrows dont sound like they are going to be very durable or strong. So dont hit any rocks or trees but for flesh they should be ok.

I agree - should be fine for one shot - but I would not expect to reuse them!

I would bet that the arrows are close to be too weak (spine). Even though you didn't say, I'm guessing your drawlength is pretty long - knowing how the typical dealer cuts arrows. I would be far more concerned with that, although I wouldn't be happy with either.

The best way to find out, is to go out on a breezy day and see if you can hit what you're aiming at with the broadheads attached. Either that, or shoot a bareshaft with a field tip and see what it does compared to a fletched one.

Your arrow are fine for hunting deer.your arrow is on the lighter side but ok I checked it out on my Archers Advanage program with a release jaw it's on the light side but ok, with a loop it's just right, with a hardcam
Est speed 302 med cam 292 Weight 313 grains per inch 7.3 foc around 8.5 Gr/Lbs 5.3
A few years ago I hunted out west with a 340 gr goldtip, 65 lbs at 28 3/4 inch long. 100 grain broadhead and shot through a bull elk at 40 yards and had to pull the arrow out off the ground, my arrows that im shooting how are at 400 grains

Those lightspeeds are alot tougher arrow than people think although I think with your draw length and poundage the 340's would have definitely been a better spine for you. Especially for broadheads it would have been better . It would help if the arrows had a wrap on the backend which would help to stiffen your spine up a little. Also you are not going to be able to use a very heavy point on them

i don think you got screwd the only way to find out is shoot em, but if you get new arrows next time look at easton ST epics with blazers vains i shoot WB too and the blazers are awsome with it, and another good and cheaper arrows is basspro's carbon furry.
