Default Bowstring killing my arm

I just got my new bow strings put on about a month ago and have not got to shoot it much until the past couple of days. I noticed the string just tearing the hide off of my arm from slapping it so hard, it never had done this before. If I open my grip anymore my bow would just be hovering in mid air. The first day I shot it I just thought I was tired from the shift I had just got off of that morning and thought perhaps I was unconsciously causing this? When I shot yesterday I knew it was not because I was tired that this was happening. Is this a setup problem or operator error? Can someone help me out with this?

It coud be that the new bow string is too short and has changed your brace hieght lower causing it to slap your arm while you are using your old form.

If you can get some one to take some pics of you at full draw and post them you might get some better answers.

Yeah, double check the brace height to make sure it's right......Then, open your stance up a little bit. What I mean by that is for a right handed shooter, take a half step away from your body w/ your right foot. That will change the angle enough to probably avoid that......If that doesn't work, check your grip on the bow. Another thing would be to check the draw length, make sure it isn't longer.....And if it's the same as before, make sure it isn't too long for you.

If all else fails, try installing an STS system. This will stop the string as soon as it hits brace, and not smacking your arm.

If it wasn't doing this before you put on new strings, something is wrong w/ the installation I would suspect.

Shorter string does not lower the brace height. It raises it.

Pic's would help a lot. Normally arm slap is due to draw length being too long and/or hand position in the bow----90% of the time.

Ok then check to see if the string is too long.

Once you check the specs, an STS will help

It just so happens I had actually ordered an STS to hush up the 'ol vipertec Saturday. Now I am looking forward to getting more than ever. If I can get that bow to leave the hide on my arm during practice and get it even more quiet all the better. Thanks again!!!!!!
