Default bow maintenance

Hi folks, long time lurker, first time poster.
My PSE Nova is about 7 years old, its never had any maintenance other than string wax. The string still looks brand new. Does it need to go into the shop or can I keep going. I don't shoot often, but it shoots where I aim and I'm afraid to mess with it. Opinions please

I would take it in to the shop and have them do a lube job on the axles for ya. Or if you have the equipment you can do it yourself.

Dual cam or single? Steel cables or synthetic? In either case, after 7 years it's time to replace the string. It could last 7 more years or it could break on the next shot. They creep (elongate) over time losing some of their strength.

And s mentioned, a good lube job wouldn't hurt.

I agree. You don't shoot much. I average about 300 shots a week and change strings at least every two years. Just a matter of safety.

I second that BGfisher. I would get a new string ASAP. I personally would not feel safe shooting that bow until the string is relaced.

Personally I'd replace the string and cables. I've had them let go in the case from being too old even if they did look to be just fine. Like someone said; they could last another 7 years or they could let go on the next shot. You'll probably see a slight performance increase with some of the newer fibers as well (452x, UltraCam, 8125...) PM Gibblet before he gets any busier!

I guess it's time to part with some more hard earned cash. I have little knowledge of setting a bow up so it is time for a trip to the local shop (townhall archery in Belleville IL). This is going to hurt, vasoline please. Thanks for the advise

For those interested in a tune-up, new string and cables, nock point and silencers, just under $60 at the shop.

Not too bad. What kind of strings? Also please clarify for those of lees experience---tune up means what? It's not the same as TUNING for arrow flight.

Not to question your judgement, but what kind of string? That sound awefully cheap.
