How many sight pins do y'all use? I have 4 on my Extreme sight, and don't want any more. I've shot a relative's bow with 5 pins, and thought it would be too tough to focus on just one pin in a hurry if necessary. Now I've noticed in the Cabelas catalog that some newer sights have as many as 7 pins.
The number of pins really is a personal preference.
I shoot a sight with 5 and really like it, however 7 pins would be very nice as well.
The higher number pin sights make it very nice for practicing. You can have pins from 20 through 80 yards. Practicing at those extended ranges identifies your form flaws and makes a 30 yard shot seem terribly easy.
Another thing to consider is that the longer yardage pins are spaced farther apart than your 20-30 pins, so seeing in between them is not really a problem.
Whether you shoot 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, or 100 pins, if it works for you and you are comfortable with it, go for it.
I shoot with 5 pins from a trophy ridge sight, and it works great for me. I think 5 pins are not needed, but I got my bow used from a guy and it works.

I have the new copper john dead nutz 2 sights and mine came with 6 pins. I am use to shooting a 5 pin model, however, the extra pin is nice because I can set it on an odd yardage like 35 yards. This way I have a 10, 20, 30, 35, 40, and 50. Deer will normally be between 30 and 40 yards from my stand to my feeder and the little bit of extra precision will be nice. I just got the sight about a month or so ago and I haven't had as much of a chance to play with it, but I think I am going to like the extra pin. I do agree that there can be too many...but each archer will be different.
