Sorry about posting this in the gear review section as well.
Iead all of these reviews, and kept hearing how quiet the black ice was. My dad just ordered a switchback XT, solely based on how quiet his wifes SQ-2 was, and that bow is 6 years old. Anyway.......
shooting my bow for the first time over the weekend, got her dialed in good, however, i have a twang when i shoot, is this common with black ice's? Wierd because it doesnt do it all the time, most of the time though, and it seemed like it did it even less when other people shot it, could it be me? I have been shooting for a long time, and am pretty good, so i find that hard to believe, but possible, i guess.
I had someone watch my arrows as i shot them, and they said that atleast half of them were flying a little "drunk". Again, this could be me, but i dont know.
My bow has already been labeled the banjo, this sux, as i love everything else about this bow. Any help or input would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys.
A twang noise when you shoot is usually the string reverberating. Some string silencers would help.
What I would do, is get a hold of MeanV2, and have him make you a CSS in MOBU for $44 to your door. Then, you won't need any string silencers, which will take weight off your string, and you'll gain a little more speed.
As to your arrows "flying a little drunk", that sounds like a clearance issue. What sort of rest and vanes are you shooting?

Im not sure how your cams are set up, but my Tribute was making what I call a twang sound when it was new. After checking everything out I found the module screw a little loose, tightened it up and the noise went away.
I would check the usual noise producing places first. If you don't hear it all the time I wonder if something might be loose. Check the limb lockdown bolts and the module screws.
My Black Ice had a string buzz but a MeanV eliminated that. It doesn't make a sound now. I shoot mine maxed out.
There is one thing you can check. If you have a drop away, tie it in far enough down the cableaway from the string so it can't come close to it after a shot. If memory serves me correctly , I may have had a little noise at first that was caused by the drop cable hitting the string at the shot.
As far as the "drunken arrows" ,I agree it could be rest contact or you may have to set Idler lean. I had to do a little adjusting to the yoke to get perfect flight.
