of arrows/shafts? I get FOC, I also get that going to a heavier broadhead is a way to increase weight and FOC bias. What are some other ways to add a little weight up front?
You can get brass or stainless steel inserts. Gold Tip has a weighting system that screws into the back side of the insert. Heavier heads, of course.
And you can take weight off the back end by going to lighter vanes or, better, feathers. Taking 30 grains off the tail end has the same effect as adding 30 grains to the nose.
The shorter the arrow is, the higher percentage a given tip weight will be. Shorter also stiffens the spine, so you can add more weight to the tip and still match the spine.
I'm a fan of fairly heavy FOC for hunting and I use a heavier broadhead (125 grains) than most people use - they're getting harder to obtain since most use 100g these days. I've used small washers screwed in behind the BH in the past to make the front heavier.
