Default Oh no....my string broke

I was shooting my Guardian last night and about the worse thing happened. I pulled back, took aim, started to squeeze the trigger, and bang. My string broke. It broke right at the peep sight. I measured it to make sure where it exactly broke and it was right at the peep. I do not know if the string broke before I hit the release point or not. My arrow hit close to where I was aiming. Thank god I have I learned to pull back on target or who knows where an arrow could have gone. My bow hand got cut up a little on the top side of my thumb. It is still swollen and hurts some. I got hit by the loop. You can actually see where the knots of the loop hit. The loop was also moved up the string about an inch. I dont' know how that would have happened. The limbs have a little chip taken out of them when the cams turned all the way over.

I have only seen two broken stings in my life and both broke at the point where it attaches to the cam. Is it common for the string to break at the peep when they do break? I waxed the sting and cables every 50 - 75 shots and I have only had the bow since June 2nd. I checked the string and cables about 5 minutes before this happened because I noticed that the string was starting to strech. The servings were starting to pull apart in the ussual places. What would have cause this. Do you think bowtech will take care of me with this, or am I stuck holding the bill. I called my proshop and they said that they needed to look at it before they can do anything and maybe send it to bowtech.

Any answers from you guys might calm my nerves a bit. I couldn't sleep last night. I hope I can get it back up and working before mid August for Antelope season.

Oh, one more thing. I swear on all of my deceased loved one's graves that I did not dry fire my bow.

What is it with all the strings these days, hope it wasnt one of Gibblets......cause im really thinking about buying one from him...im sure sicne the bow is newand it was a factory string that bowtech will cover it, if not, you should have checked into a PSE they woudl have fixed your bow at no cost.

I didn't see any damage to the string near the peep. But, the green strings were all broke in the same location and the brown strings were broke anywhere between a1inch distance from either side of the peep location. The peep split the green and brown strands of the string, so the string was probably cut by the on the green side of the peep. Maybe the peep had a bur on it or something. I can't tell because the peep was no where to be found. I just know where the peep was as I measured that distance from the nock point a couple days after I got it.

The string wasn't one of Gibblets. It was the factory string. I will be ordering a string from Gibblet at some as I can though.

I have yet to have a string break at all, but would guess it to be pretty scarey and likely to hurt self.

i'd say that peep cut it.don't think it was one of mine - but as strong as strings are, they aren't too good on abrasion - and mine don't even hold up when a peep has a burr.bowtech is so helpful in warranty - i'd say they'll take care of it - even though its probably the peep manufacturers responsibility.

It may have been the person who installed the peep. It's easy to break strands if they split the string at full poundage instead of pressing the bow. Don't ask me how I know...[&:] but at least I replaced the damaged string when I did it.

Can anyone else confirm this. Bohning sells a string seperator that you use at full poundage. I have one and used it to install my string leeches and peep sight. I am worried now[&:]??

I have one of bohning's tools and using it under full load is a pain. Yes, they claim you can. Butit seems to almostalmost always break strands. You can buy a portable press for under $30 and then use the bohning tool along with that.

Check your strings and ifyou don't see any broken strandsdon't worry about it. You would have noticed it though when you used the tool.

OOk. I didn't see any broken strands but did see really fine seperated strands is that the same thing? Or does the strand have to be like broke vertically in half?
