Quicksilver's post about how the location of the speed nocks on your string is very important makes perfect sense, but I never thought about it.
I have an 07 Tribute 60#, 27.5" draw. When waxing my string I moved the string leeches and speed nocks around without really thinking.
A few questions:
(1) How important is the location of speed nocks or the string leeches?
(2) What is the best location for the speed nocks? Can anyone give me an approximate in inches from the cam (I still have the original serving as well if that helps).
(3) What is the best location for the string leeches (approximate)?
The speed nocks on my 07 Alligiance are 3 1/2 inches from thecams, they are set at he factory for optimum speed andthe location can change your f.p.s.,if they move that easily you probably should have them crimped down a little tighter and my string leeches are about 7 miles from my bow in the landfill.
I've never really played with them while I've had the chrony out. I guess I should some day but my general rule is that if it doesn't change something +/- 10 fps I'm not going to sweat it. When I built a new string for my Old Glory I just put things back on it where the old ones came off.
To find the "sweet spot" you really should have a chronograph. Set them and then shoot for a speed check. Move them a little more and check again, and again, and again, till you find where they should be. Then measure how far they are from the cam.
You can't go by what position they are on someone else's bow. Each bow is an individual.
Frankly, if this is a hunting bow I would just take them off and you'll have one less thing to worry about. They are only there to optimize speed which may only be a few fps, which for hunting is inconsequential anyway.
