How many people try to return arrows
So, on the thread about if arrows straightness matters we started to discuss testing for straightness and spine and guys say that they just eat the cost of a bad arrow.
Here's my question:
Why should we have to?
How many of you try and return the arrows for a replacement either to the place you bought them or to the manufacturer?
And if you tried which one of the 2 actually replaced the shafts?
You'd think that if manufacturer's post specs they should be held accountable to those standardsfor the money we shell out. Carbon are very different than aluminum in the fact that you can't just bend the shaft to make it bent. It pretty much is bent or isn't.

I've never done it, but I have heard Gold Tip has very good customer service and will replace deffective arrows. And it's a good thing because those are the arrows I hear the most complaints about. They sell a LOT of arrows though, so it stand to reason you would hear more complaints about them.
The best thing to do is take an arrow spinner with you and check them before you buy them. I don't do it, but I know some who spin test them and weigh them before getting them. Especially if they are pricy ones.
I have never had a problem with aluminums so I don't bother checking them unless they fly funny or I am going to put a fixed blade on them.
I don't get arrows off the net, I want to at least see them before I pay for them.

RE: How many people try to return arrows
That's funny you mention GT. That's the the manufacturer. I like the other 4 a great deal. If I stay with this arrow, from now on Iwill be purchasing them in person and spin them.
My pine ridge will be going. This explains why people recommend cutting off the nock endfirst and then cutting for length.
I marked both arrows and am going to shoot them to compare to the ones that spin great.

If you want Carbons give Carbon Tech arrows a look. Out of a dozen, 10 spin very nicely. Two of them I cut the ends off and they spin just as nicely. They weren't but I tiny hair off to begin with.

I have......most companies are good about this kind of stuff. I had a dozen I bought and 1 was damaged in shipping and they sent me a new one for free. [8D]
I hope so cuz I just bout another dozen AC Super Slims, raw shafts. They are supposed to be weight toleranced at +-.5 grains.. I have arrows as much as 6.2 grains apart.. To say the least I am really not happy with them right now.

Most companies published straightness ratings is an average. So when they say that the straightness in +-.003" it's going to be an average of all the arrows unless they hand sort each dozen. So if you have arrows that are +-.003 as long as the total of the dozen is less than .036 then that dozen averages out to +-.003" In other words if several happen to be .001 and.002 then afew can be .005 and .006 and still average out to .003.
It gets worse as you go down in grade in any given line.

yes these were raw shafts.. Seriously some were 6 to7 grains heavier than others..Not that it will make much of a difference but I know it and for the money spent I wasn't too happy.
Bought another dozen todayand they were fine... geeeez....
